Funding Opportunities from the
Montana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®

The Komen Montana Affiliate is proud to announce the availability of grant funds for 2013-14. Grants will be made to support efforts to reduce breast cancer disparities in Montana.

Based on a community needs assessment, Komen has identified the following funding priority areas:

1. Breast screening/mammograms, follow-up diagnostic services and breast cancer navigation programs that serve underserved populations who lack health insurance or who are underinsured with priority given to programs serving American Indians living on reservations or in urban communities;
or
2. Breast cancer education/outreach programs that lead to action-oriented behaviors and improved annual screening rates and promote healthy lifestyles proven to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

With limited funding for the 2013-2014 community grant cycle and to target funding to sustainable programs, collaboration among non-profits with integration of services for underserved populations, particularly the Montana American Indian population, is encouraged and will receive additional points during review.  Copy of RFA.

The deadline for applications is February 14, 2013.

New this year, all grant application submissions must be done through the Komen eGrants Management System (GeMS).  An overview of the application process will be conducted via webinar on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.  To register for the webinar, contact Nancy W. Lee, nlee@komenmontana.org, 406-495-9337.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Montana Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested $1.37 million to assure Montana women have access to breast screening and education.  For more information about Susan G. Komen for the Cure, breast health or breast cancer, visit www.komen.org  or call 1-877-GO KOMEN.
