Shoot for the Cure

Shoot for the Cure was started in 2009 by Al Bolde, Mary Huth and Dave and Ann White. Archers from all over Montana and the Northwest participate in the annual 3D shoot. All proceeds of this event are donated to the Montana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. In 2009 Shoot for the Cure raised $5,000 to fight breast cancer. The following year an impressive $7,000 was raised.  This year Shoot for the Cure out did themselves raising a total of $10,000 dollars! Al and Mary are terrific people.  I asked Mary why and she said "because we can!"  She is right, we all can.

Casting for Recovery

logo_cfr.gifCasting for Recovery is a nationwide program that provides 2½-day retreats for women who have been affected by breast cancer. This year marks the first retreat for Western Montana. The CFR Montana Glacier Country retreat will be held on September 9-11, 2011 at the Glacier Outdoor Center. Fourteen women are scheduled to attend the retreat to learn to fly fish and more importantly learn to focus on wellness and empowerment.

“You will leave this retreat with more than you ever expected, and I am not talking about the fly-fishing lessons or the new friends. I’m talking about the parts of your heart that you may have closed because of what you have been through. Be prepared to feel those chambers fill up again.”
