New for 2010: Team Tailgate presented by Rock Hand Hardware

Join in the FUN of this all new experience!

The reason for creating the Rock Hand Hardware Team Tailgate is, well…YOU! You told us you wanted a planned area for your team to meet and rally before and after the Race. In the past, teams have been left on their own to organize a meeting spot for team members to gather pre-Race. Some teams never even met prior to the start.

Not anymore! Now teams have the opportunity to bond and to celebrate their participation in the Race. Reserve your spot in the Rock Hand Hardware Team Tailgate area and give your team a premium meeting spot near all the Race activities. Your team can rally together before the Race, pose for team photos, march to the start line together as a team, and celebrate a job well done after the Race with a picnic!

Go all out and compete for the Team Spirit Award! Decorate your tailgate area with balloons, banners, team signage, streamers and other festive decorations. Make it colorful and fun! Create team t-shirts, bandanas, wristbands, or hats to promote your team. The Team Spirit Award will be given to the team with the most enthusiastic and spirited decorations.

How many team members do we need to participate in Team Tailgate?

Teams must have five or more members in order to be considered an official team and be eligible for team prizes and the Rock Hand Team Tailgate. The size of the Tailgate spot provided to your team is based on the size of the team and team fundraising totals; teams with more members and higher fundraising levels will receive bigger spots.

How do I reserve a spot in the Rock Hand Team Tailgate, and what benefits do I receive?

Download the Team Tailgate Reservation Form. After filling out the form, return it via email to teams@komenmontana.org. The completed registration form can also be printed and mailed to the Komen Office at 825 Helena Avenue, Helena Montana 59601. The Team Tailgate is free in 2010! (However, we may ask for a donation to Komen Montana in future years.)

Teams will receive a space in the Rock Hand Team Tailgate area; the size of the space is dependent on the size of your team and the fundraising total of your team. Teams can set up tents and decorate their space. In addition to the space in the Rock Hand Team Tailgate area, Team Tailgaters will also receive preferred parking in a nearby parking lot. Rock Hand Hardware will be present to hand out treats, while teams can gather for photos. Moody Entertainment will also be on hand to provide music and entertainment in the Tailgate area.

When can I register?

Rock Hand Team Tailgate registration opens on April 15th. Team Tailgate registration is first-come, first serve and may fill up quickly, so register today!

Where is Team Tailgate located?

Team Tailgate is located behind the Capitol building on Lockey Street. Please refer to the Race site map for the location of Team Tailgate and all Race day events. Please access the Team Tailgate area from Broadway Street, Lockey Street or Montana Avenue. Many of the side streets at the Capitol complex will be closed on the morning of the Race.

When can I start setting up my area in Team Tailgate?

You will be allowed to begin setting up your designated spot in the Rock Hand Team Tailgate beginning at 7:00 am on Saturday, May 15th, 2010. When you arrive, you will be directed to your exact space. Security is not provided, so please be sure to keep your personal items and vehicles secure throughout the event. The Rock Hand Team Tailgate and Montana Race for the Cure is an alcohol-free event.

How can I win a free Team Tailgate spot for next year?

Team prizes are awarded for the top fundraising team, the largest team, and for the best team spirit. Along with other prizes, these teams will receive a premium location in the Rock Hand 2010 Team Tailgate and a free spot for next year.
