Rally for the Cure
Rally for the Cure®, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Condé Nast Publications, is a grassroots program dedicated to spreading awareness in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Rally brings the breast cancer awareness message to active women and men, and its events provide the platform for special fundraising opportunities for Komen for the Cure.
Turning Whitefish Pink
On June 30, 2008, the Whitefish Ladies Golf Association, held it’s annual golf invitational. This year our theme was “Turning Whitefish Pink”, a fundraiser for the Montana/Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure. We had seventy-nine women from all over the state play golf, a variety of donated gifts for drawings, along with nineteen Hole Sponsors. It was a beautiful day here and everyone had a wonderful time. As a result we were able to raise $2,651.00 for Komen Montana.
Enclosed you will find checks totaling the above amount along with a picture of all the players who literally turned ”Whitefish Pink,“ We know that you will put it to good use.
Rally for the Cure
Over 80 women enjoyed the tournament at Green Meadow Country Club, dedicated to spreading awareness in the fight to eradicate breast cancer. Lynn Snyder won the Adams pink putter for the morning league, and Daysha DeTienne was closest to the pin on #5 to win the putter for the evening league. Long drives prizes for the morning league were Mary Bryson in the low handicap group, and Kristy Farago in the high handicap group. Andrea Tucker blasted a 255 yard drive on #3 in the evening. Ruth Reed won the grand raffle prize - a PINK golf bag from Diamondback Golf.
We honor Chuck Schmith, husband of our league president, who recently lost his battle with cancer. The Tree of Hope was filled with pink ribbons made by Karen Suden in memory of those dealing with cancer, including Jill Donald Caruso. Go to Jill’s website to read her journal as she continues her fight against breast cancer and offer her support.
Each year we are able to raise several thousand dollars for our local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the national organization on this fun filled day.
